Alberta Patios and the Cucumber Bramble

Alberta Patios and the Cucumber Bramble

Good news this past week! The Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission recently changed regulations on patios for businesses serving alcohol. No longer must you be made to feel isolated from the world by meter-high barriers on your favourite patio, and opening up patio space not directly adjacent to a licensed space is no longer necessary, giving more options for restaurants to open rooftop patios and the like.

Thirsty Thursday - The Diamondback

Thirsty Thursday - The Diamondback

If anybody offers you a drink named after a snake, you should not feel ashamed to ask what was used to make the asply named beverage, and you should also not be surprised when you find out how much alcohol is hidden within. While this particular drink was actually named for the Diamondback Lounge it was originally served in, one sip on today's tipple and you'll immediately understand that the title is indeed a double entendre I've no doubt its creator chuckled to themselves over as they passed one to an unsuspecting guest.

Thirsty Thursday - Acquiring Tastes and Negronis

I have to apologize for a potentially misleading title, I unfortunately won't have an in depth guide on how to acquire a Negroni, but let me assure you that unless you have a palate considerably wider than mine, you'll likely find obtaining one much easier than obtaining enjoyment from one. To the delight of some, and the derision of many others, it's Negroni week!

Thirsty Thursday - Edmonton Craft Beer Festival and Beer Cocktails

If ya haven't heard, the Edmonton Craft Beer Festival is tomorrow at the Edmonton Expo Centre. I know I don't have to tell you, but if you are at all interested in beer and/or beer related activities, I strongly suggest you come and sample some of Edmonton and Alberta's finest brews. You might even see me there!

Maraschinos and Manhattans

Maraschinos and Manhattans

Oh my. If you've been following my instagram page, you might've seen my beautiful little batch of maraschino cherries. No, not those ungodly syrupy red storebought things that look like they were mistakenly thrown in the wash with Mickey Mouse's shorts. I mean some seriously tasty, boozy goodness that your supposed Italian grandmother Rosa would approve of. I have them sitting in the fridge right now, and it's proving incredibly difficult to exercise some form of restraint and not eat all of them before they've been given them a chance to grace another weekly drank.
