I was feeling a little sluggish yesterday, hence no Thirsty Thursday. However, I did muster up the energy to survey the housemates on a choice of beverage. Now, you must understand that one housemate in particular is a particularly large fan of a certain nocturnal rodent themed hero who is more or less super, so we've naturally needed to experiment with a few Batman related cocktails. In scouring the internet, a favourite of ours has become the Bruce Wayne, which very quickly became the clear choice last night, for its inclusion of the energy inducing caffeinated ingredient you may have heard of before: coffee.
The marriage of caffeine and alcohol has gotten a bit of a bad rap over the last decade, mostly due to easily over-abused abominations like FourLoko and Jagerbombs. It's fair to say that overuse of either substance on their own can have pretty nasty effects on your health, and one in particular can lead to some poorly made decisions, put lightly. So it should come as no surprised that taken in large amounts, the combination can A) throw your body into a bit of a panic, and B) make your bad judgement goals seem a lot more achievable.
Taken in more reasonable quantities though, your body should be able to effectively manage your chemical intervention without much ill effect. Just the right amount of each should also serve sufficient social "smoothening", sans the sauce-stoked sluggishness. One or two of today's cocktail should fit the bill, and also happens to make a great after-dinner delight, provided you aren't planning on sleeping any time soon. This one is pulled from Buzzfeed: here, so all credit goes to the creator of that article. If you like coffee, bourbon, and maple syrup; prepare to be smoothened by this billionaire of a beverage.
The Bruce Wayne
- 4 1/2 oz cold coffee
- 2 oz bourbon whiskey
- 1/2 oz maple syrup
Instruct your trusted confidant and butler to shake all ingredients on ice and serve it up in a well-chilled glass. Then dispense some silky smooth, ice-cold justice.
